Hello and welcome to the Guidance Department! My name is Julia Justice Wilhoit.Students and Staff call me "Mrs. Julie" I have had ten wonderful years working at Powell Valley Elementary School. I hope that more enjoyable years are to come at Powell Valley. I received my Bachelor of Science in Social Work from Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) in May of 1992. I have worked in the community over six years as a Director of Social Services in different health care facilities. I have also worked at Southeastern Psychiatric Center in LaFollette, TN, for two years as a counselor and intake worker. In December 1997, I received a Master of Education in Counseling and Guidance from LMU. I worked 450 hours at Forge Ridge and Clairfield Schools to receive my license. I am licensed through the State of Tennessee Department of Education, and my area of endorsement is Pre K-12 Counselor. I started working at Powell Valley as the school counselor in 1999. I had a big adjustment going from nursing home social worker to school Counselor. It was worth it! In December 2001, I received my Educational Specialist degree in Counseling and Guidance from LMU. My future educational goal is to receive a degree in Christian counseling. I enjoy working with the students to help improve our school and community. I have been the First Priority sponsor for ten years and the Student Council sponsor for three years.
